In 2003, Tamar was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. Tamar's first reaction was shock and disbelief. once the shock wore off she decided to turn her condition into something that would change her life and the lives of other's for the better.
Tamar's life exemplified strength, courage and compassion, whose battles against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was fought like a soldier, warrior and champion. Tamar brought this disease to the forefront of her family and friends minds. She never lost her faith, grace or beauty. "Who will walk for us?" a question Tamar would often ask is quoted in "TurningHeads" by Jackson Hunsicker, a book designed to empower women undergoing chemotherapy to appreciate and accept their beautiful baldness. Although Tamar passed away before she received her stem-cell transplant, she understood the importance of educating people of color about the bone marrow and blood stem cell donation process, and how we all can make a difference by joining the National Marrow Donor Program.
The Tamar Renee Bolt Memorial Fund Inc. was established to honor our daughter, We are a non-profit organization, we promote awareness and host donor education and recruitment drives in

The Tamar Renee Bolt Memorial Fund Inc. has made a commitment to walk again for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk.
